Introduction

Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the grant-funded contractual position of 
Senior Research Assistant (IT) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:
  • provide technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in person
  • diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • install, configure, and maintain software applications, and peripheral devices
  • collaborate with other IT team members to troubleshoot complex problems
  • perform regular system maintenance tasks, such as software updates, data backups
  • assist in the setup and configuration of new hardware and software
  • create and maintain documentation for IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user guides
  • ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures
  • stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry
  • perform any other task assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

You should have:
  • a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from an HEC recognized or reputable foreign university
  • at least one year of experience in providing technical support in a professional setting. However, fresh graduates are encoureged to apply
  • strong knowledge of computer hardware, software concepts
  • proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team.
